There has been ample discussion on the next “must have apps” claiming to make your life better. Most recently, Yahoo acquired Aviate, an Android-based mobile app that essentially takes your home screen and offers you app suggestions based on your surroundings. A few months later, Twitter bought Cover, another startup aimed at personalizing your phone’s experience. These apps, while useful, still lack the ability to provide an app that provides a unique solution based on my own surroundings.
Rheti believes that personalized apps are the future in this mobile ecosystem. Instead of browsing through various apps that we use for one or two functionalities, perhaps one day our apps will be sufficiently tailored to us that we’ll want to use them every day.
Rheti has received well over 5,000 app ideas from all of our unique users. It is in this spirit of personalized behavior that we decided to challenge ourselves to create the #30days30apps challenge. I’ll be building 1 personalized native Android app per day. The app will not be coming from a template or pre made app. It will be unique to my surroundings and will be made to solve a problem I face in my life. Most importantly, I will show you that personalized apps can be just as good and pretty, if not better, than those built by a developer thousands of miles away. It is my belief that once I am done, I will use more apps than the handful I currently use today. Don’t worry, I will post how I built all those apps on the Rheti blog and throughout our social networks.
I encourage you to take up the challenge with us as you never know what solutions you could come up with. Who knows, maybe you’ll be responsible for the next billion dollar app idea like SnapChat.
